livewell questions

I have plumbed the well directly in front of my console as a livewell but was not happy with the way that it pumped out last year and I am trying to get some new ideas about how to pump it out. Any suggestions?

How did you plumb it? What size pump going in and what size pump is going out? Need a little more info to help you out.

Above deck Capt. Nat? I have no pump out, just a single 1 1/2" overflow drain from close to the top of the above deck well running down under the deck discharging below the waterline. I may add another as I could use more flow. I can modulate the input and get a nice balance, but it requires attention. Especially when running as the clamshell really rams the water thru. No inlet pump needed when running. :D

I have an end of day drain which just empties onto the deck and goes out the scuppers.

Live bait is king down here south of Stuart to the Keys. I`ve seen many set ups. Cpt. Ray Rosher had 1000 gogs per side in his massive under gunwhale wells on the Get Lit when he released 29 sails in one day three years ago during the Silver Sailfish Derby. Above deck is easier if you`re coastal.

Cheers,
GFS

I run charters on my 23 cc and need all the space that I can get so I really need to keep it under the deck. i currently run a Shurflo bait sentry 1100gph pump in in a 1 inch hose. the pump out was a 1 1/2 inch hose that went to a sealed bucket with a bilge pump inside. the bucket was to collect all the scales, weed etc and the bilge pump pumps out the water. I kept burning out the bilge pumps though.

I see from your website that you have a leaning post. Why not put one under it? Nice stripers BTW. My 20 loves the weight there and two can cross behind it.
