Sunny Day, Driveway, Hatches, Epoxy, Dos Equis

I finally got to do my hatch recore/ rehab I wanted to get done. It was really necessary in my feeble mind anyway.

I started by making two rear hatches for the aft. I cut up an old hatch I had that was starting to delaminate nicely. I cut out the coring and trimmed the edge and corner until it passed the eyeball test. Then I sandwiched some mat and some wetted out 1/2" plywood. Weighted it. After it kicked off enough I wetted out another layer of mat taken out to the edge.

The console seat hatch had'nt rotted, it broke loose. It looks like there were big voids where the wood met the hatch. The glass on that radius was dry. So I ground out the radius and covered everything in a thin layer of cloth and then a layer of mat .

The anchor hatch only had one small case of wet wood in a corner so I scabbed in a piece of plywood and covered everything in a layer of mat.

The fishbox and baitwell hatches were in the worst shape.I cut the cores out and sandwiched some mat and some wetted out 1/2" plywood. Weighted it overnight. Then I rolled out another layer of mat taken out to the edge on both hatches.

Great Day today, going in later this week.

Aeromarine. It's cheap and quality and it's pretty thin so the wood wicks it up nice. 3 gal. kit, non-blushing hardener, pumps, $170 delivered.

Aeromarine in SD? Thats where I go, too. Great service and price. Owner, John Greer,is very cool. Always makes time to answer any of my questions and even offers advice beyond the scope of the question. I think he has an e-bay store and prices are same as to locals.

grgrmouse - That's a fine looking stout.

Good one, Castalot, but no Mako jokes from me - the last 250 lb mama we tagged gave makos immunity from my jokes...

yup he is a easy to reach knowledgeable guy who sells a quality product at a great price.. I'm sure his referral and repeat business is great. Pretty good "business model", lol.

Stop by any time. BTW I hear ya on the pollen, luckily I finished the little bit of varnish work I had before it started. Yours is lookin good. I've been in for over a week , the bait is moving and the fishing is starting to warm up.
