Coast Guard Boarded My Boat Today!!

My Uncle came up to go on the first run today since I just finished a 3 week long rehab of my 79' SF18.We were making bait to try and hook a Thresher for dinner when we were boarded by The Coast Guard for a vessel safety check.Thank god for all the preparedness I put forth in the safety department. After a thorough check out we were happy to be informed that my SeaCraft was violation free!It was a good feeling thats for sure and the astonishment on the CG officers face when I told him it was a 1979 was priceless and he responded that he thought it was a like new boat!!!
well here's a pic of me holding the Boarding Record in front of my boat after I washed and put it away today.Gotta love it!

Classic cherry SeaCraft, indeed. They just wanted to feel the ride. Any knockdowns on the Thresher? I went out Friday all day for nada off La Jolla. Yellowtail biting inside when knuckleheads weren't running over them.

But nary a baitball in our score zone. Seemed like maybe a red tide at about 800ft, at the north of the 9.

A big Great white was spotted and freaked out a bunch of boats in the canyon. Suddenly the place thinned out.

Still want some SeaCraft logos? Send a pm with your mailing address, I'll get 'em out this week.

Actually they usually pass SeaCrafts by and just wave, I guess we look like we know what we are doing - if they only knew :D

wasn't there a list of boats that told about what the owners where like?

Seems to me the only constant is a sailboat with a Canadian flag. And trawler drivers with small dogs. And Cigarette type drivers from Jersey and "Strong" Island. And pontoon boat owners who replaced the chewed up couch seats with unsecured patio furniture (Or any pontoon owner in salt water for that mater.) And... boy I hope there is a list like MakoMike said otherwise this may be a long post.

Go fast boats are generally owned by text book examples of males suffering from penis envy. Just my limited impression.

The louder the boat the shorter the ___! Steroids, don't ya know.

(No, not the REAL race boat guys Fr. Frank!)

I dunno, that description fits a great many guys who decided to get into offshore powerboating. Not because they wanted to go fast, but because they desperately wanted to be the "big man" at something. Most of those guys ended up behind the wheel of the boat powered by their checkbook.

I remember being struck back then by the fact that the guys who really loved boats and boat racing were usually handling the throttles and/or working on the boats.

Of course, my day was after the day of one guy working wheel and throttles, and the other guy navigating, and before the day of GPS course navigation. I remember a race in '85 off Lauderdale where only one boat in our class had only two crew, everyone else had three: helm, throttles, & navigator. (That was the race where, as throttle-man, I stuffed the GulfWind, a 30' Velocity, at nearly 70 mph :( )

This is not the boat, but it looked like this w/ triple 2.4 Mercs.
