can anyone inform me what type of cruise speed I can expect from a small block powered seacraft savage inboard?Fuel burn?

I once had use of a cousin's 23' Fish Nautique, with a Crusader Marine 270 hp 350 GM small block. It' been a while, but I remember about 35-36 mph being WOT in the ICW, and I think I remember burning about 12-14 gallons per hour at cruise of 24-25 mph. A 23 Savage inboard with a small block won't be too far off that.

The right prop (and an unbent prop) on a straight inboard is even more important than on a sterndrive or an outboard. It can make a 20% difference in efficiency and performance.

A small block will burn about 8+ gph. at cruise regardless of what it is in.

The reason I say this is the two boats that I have owned that had small block gmc 350 where completely different but yet they used the same amount of fuel.

One was a 24' Searay that cruised at 20-25. The other was a 30' Alura that cruised at 12-15 and weighed around 10,000 #. I put on over 2000 hours between the two and was surprised years later when I checked my log books that they were both about the same in gph.
