Shark Trip

No sharks, just bluefish, but an absolutely beautiful day offshore.

We were fishing near Monster Ledge, about 36 miles from the hook. Ran 94~ miles round trip, burned 28 gal or so, not bad for a 31 year old 20fter.

Hey Basspond did you see any bluefins on your way down the hole?

No bluefin yet. That was my intent, head out with the tuna gear and troll if we saw anything, otherwise shark fish.

There's a lot of bait from the BA south. Lots of sand eels. It shouldn't be long before they set up inshore.

I know some were caught in the chicken canyon, that's a bit out my safety zone

Water was clean green/blue and up to 72 degrees.

No problem. I'm always willing to exchange info since I can't get offshore unless the weather is perfect.

Yeah I was watching the forecast all week and decided Friday was the day to go so I took the day off work.

I use fishweather.com wind models. When you get down to about 12-24 hours before you go they are very accurate in my experience. Friday it showed it would be around 10-12 NW until around 10. Right around 10 it dropped to nothing and was glass the rest of the day.

Hammered the bass friday night between the candle sticks.
They were breaking on top.Bite ended when two head boats seen me on fish and anchored almost on top of me.

No problem Jerry. With my little 20 SC and my neighbor's 21 Contender that I fish on a lot I need to be able to pick good days to get offshore and that site is very helpful.

I bass fished Sunday morning down off Asbury. We dropped two fish early and that was it. Very slow and by 7:30 the hordes showed up. The only nice part was I was able to get all the bunker I needed with one throw of the net in the bay on the way out at 4:30. From what I have heard the afternoons have been better.
