School me on rub rails
 

I need a new one. Lots of different types out there. My old one was rigid vinyl and cracked in several places. My boat is a fishing boat, not a show boat, so function over form...but I want something that looks nice as well.

Look at the TACO website and find out what measurements you need then Measure you boat accordingly. Return to TACO site and match up you measurements with what they offer and look at the styles they offer with those measurements. Then check the pricing.

You can also do a web search of other manufactures as well. In most cases, you get what you pay for.

Oh yeah, check out some of the web sites that describe different processes for mounting them. The one of attaching both ends where they meet on the transom and wokinging it/stretching on around the bost intrigues me, though I have never done it myself. You'll need to get some idea from the manufacturer what to expect in terms of "stretch" so you can trim it accordingly to begin with.

Find the rubrail you want on the Taco site then visit rubrails.com. Call the guy he can help you and save you money.

Rigid vinyl with a ss insert looks nice and is tough. Easy to bend with a heat gun. Plus it's easy to keep it strait during installation when compared to a flexible rub rail . If you want to go all out then a complete ss rub rail (like the 25 seafari) is first class looking and tough like nails.

Sean,
If I woulda took the cap off mine I would go with the rigid/stainless. The lid was on a little squirley and I didn't want to bust it loose and start over so
I opted for the 'ol stock look. Get it on while it's still warm though or it'll grow on ya and look like crap later.

Foursonsmarine dot com is where I got mine. Heck I think shipping was more than the rail though :rolleyes:

Thanks guys. I hope to have my cap buttoned up this weekend and I want to get going on putting this thing back together and in the water.
