20' repower
I've got a 1987 20' seacraft which currenty has a mariner 200 on it (weights ~400lbs). I wanted to repower to a yamaha 200 ox66 which weighs 453lbs. At the moment I can have 2 guys fishing in the back with almost no water coming in the scuppers and I am happy with how it handles and sits in the water. Will the extra 50lbs of the ox66 make that much of a difference?
Also I could move my battery and my oil tank to the center console (they are currently at the transom) if that will help offset the extra weight. |

Re: 20' repower
does anyone have a 200 ox66 (or an engine ~450lbs) on the back of a 20'er. Just wondering how it will sit in the water

Re: 20' repower
I bought a 1974 20'SF powered with a 200 yamaha 2-stroke. The transom sits 1" or 1.5" lower than I would like but she jumps out of the pocket and planes off quick. Batteries under console would be advantageous.

Re: 20' repower
do you know what year your yamaha 2 stroke was? Or what it weighed?

Re: 20' repower
Its an older 1990 Precision Blend. So not exactly sure. But new 200 2-stroke is 476lbs.

Re: 20' repower
Great engine, have it on a newer 20 and sits fine. Also
had a 200 yam 420lbs on a 20 MA and was ok at rest but needed to plug the scups when standing in the corner. The 21 Pro series is the perfect prop for both setups.. |
Re: 20' repower
I have a '70 20' with an OX66, it will self bail, but with one person in the back the water comes in the scuppers, batteries are under console.
