1977 SF18 Resto questions

Getting close on my 1977 18SF. I had the transom redone - raised for a 25" shaft motor. Repainted in awlcraft iceblue, new gas tank and thanks to some good luck - I am getting a used Suzuki 140 with a brand new powerhead at a very good price.

Questions -

1. I hear the 18 is a wet boat, especially with 420 lbs off the rear. Anything special I should do with the scuppers? Ping pong scuppers? I am also having my guy make a hinged splashboard.

2. I am moving the console forward about 4" and putting the batteries far forward in the console. Does this make a big difference?

3. I removed the livewell and am making it a drop in wet storage compartment so that I can lift it out and get easy and open access to the bilge. I am going to put a sealed locking cover on top. I can live without a livewell for the fishing I do. Some people seem to go to extremes to seal this very thoroughly - am I making a mistake here?

4. Bilge pump recommendations?

5. I just bought a Fortress Guardian FX-7 anchor for the boat. The anchor locker looks very small - what do most of you do to mount the anchor? Should I just use deck chocks to mount it to the bow deck? I am keeping the bow rail- is it better to mount it on the rail?

6. Over the winter I will completely rewire the boat and paint the deck/interior/console and get a small leaning post to replace the stock seat. Suggestions on what product to use to paint the interior?

7. Prop suggestions for the 140 Suzuki on the 18SF? I am most interested in an efficient 30-35mph cruise, not as worried about top speed.

Thanks,

Pete
