How can I cross reference a hull serial #

On Christmas day my brother in law informed me of a Boston Whaler that he has seen parked out front of a house for the last three years.I said what the hell..lets go take a looksee and to my suprise it turned out to be a Potter Seacraft! I am now trying to get ahold of the ladies son to see if he'll sell it to me.........I did write down the hull# and cant recall where to find the info pertaining to the #.Anyone know of a way to decipher the hull#.Thank you!

3 letters represent Mfg. SEC for Potters Seacrafts
1 letter or perhaps number for model
1 number for length (e.g., 3 for 23'
3 numbers for hull id
4 numbers for month and year of manufacture

Here's an example using my my old '78 SeaCraft Seavette 23:
SEC V 3 013 1178

I hope to get it.I love my 18' but I cant beleive how much more room there is with the 23'.(plus i can put a tuna slide on it for Mex.)I am ready for the complete rebuild too and should be more efficient the second time around.Thank you for writing me with your knowledge!

You've got 3 extra numbers in there somewhere. It should only be 12 characters long. Perhaps it should read SECF30070777? I'm guessing there wouldn't be a hull # 000, most likely 007. Then the month & year...0777.
