Anyone familiar with '72 20' Volvo I/O SC?
I'm looking for any information about the'72 20' I/O with the 170 HP volvo. I know there were only a few of them made. I'd appreciate any information about how these perform, how they may differ from the outboards, and perhaps if I got one, if I should think about converting it to outboard.

Big Shrimpin had a nice Seafari with that setup, so you might send him a PM about it. The Volvo outdrive has a good reputation for durability and that I-6 is a lot smoother running than the I-4 Mercruiser often used in these boats. Might be worth keeping the I/O if it's in good shape.

I owned a 20’ SF with this drive train for a very brief period of time. The motor was really incredible! Fired right up and ran smooth as hell! I never wet the boat while it was in my possession so I can’t share any performance #’s. If you look back through my previous posts, I shared some photos and info.

Re: Anyone familiar with '72 20' Volvo I/O SC?
The '72 20' Volvo I/O I was interested in sold last Monday for the seller's "buy it now" price of $4500. I decided to pass based on uncertainties about the structural and mechanical condition of the boat, and the fact that it was in Florida, I'm in New York, and I couldn't go see it within the timeframe of the sale. Thanks to everyone who shared their experience and expertise.

You should have posted up that you needed someone to look at it. It was local to me and I could have given it a once over. If I didn;t have my 23ft I would have been interested in it.

At the time I posted the request for information I was really new to the forum - it may have been my first post. I've gotten a little better feel for the CSC community since then and I'd be more likely to ask such a favor. Thanks for the offer.
