SeaCraft another No Show
 

I just took a look at the exhibitors at the Miami Boat Show starting 2/17/11 and noticed that for the third year in a row there is NO exhibit by SeaCraft boats.

For me three strikes and you are out of the business. I don’t think they are going to come back.

Jesus rose on the third day but SeaCraft didn’t.

When you see other boat manufacturing co. building boats with similar hull designs as the SeaCraft and hanging in there with out the advantages that Tracker national distribution arm, finances, and the SeaCraft brand name should provide you got to think why can’t they make it even in these hard times?????
My opinion is they bought the Company but never caught the Vision.

Its a shame, the contribution that SC made to the industry was immense. It's hard to believe they are not around, along the same lines, Bertram also. There have been many boats basically copied from a predecessor with a couple new or different features and people fall in love with it and act like it's new. It's hard to believe you can find early 2000's 32' SC's with 2 strokes that people are asking $35,000 to $55,000. I'd love to see a historic south FL. boatbuilder like Merritt get their hands on the rights and molds. They build plastic boats now, they could build ya what you want, high end slathered with wood or whited out, inboard, outboard, bracketed. You see more bigger boat builders getting involved with the smaller boats. It may limit the # of buyers but it's better than being viewed as a great design not up to the former build quality from it's glory days, that are sold next to Mako.

What is the most copied hull? I would say Seacraft23?
- In terms of both total numbers, and number of times it was copied.

So maybe that will make the ones out there more valueable! ;)
It might just be their time. They did have a good run though.

If the management up at tracker had any passion about building boats, SeaCraft would still be a top brand. Sadly this was not the case.

SeaCraft is done- I spoke with a Tracker dealer recently and he said they "are not building new boats"- when pressed, he admitted that means they have no intentions of starting up again- I asked why they still had a website with all kinds of information and dealers listed and he said it's just a matter of time before it comes down- very sad indeed.

What molds would be worth having? I think the 19 and 23 could use some tweaking, nothing major, I thought that the 25 was a really cool update of the 23. I loved the layout and the forward seating. They should have had the option though of a flat floor. The 26 is a very nice boat, but it came too late. The 32 needs a little more beam and a closed transom. It also could have been a real winner with a cuddy or fisharound option. The point is the next incarnation of Seacraft should be much like its roots of being on the cutting edge of the industry, not a small division of a larger corporation.

I would say the 23, the 20. Hermco brackets.

The bigger ones I feel like you would be better off starting from scratch, as you say.

I think the 23 and the 20 are the "classic" seacrafts.

Don't forget the original 21', the 27' SeaMaster, and the 15' Scamp. Those are definitely "Classic" SeaCrafts !!
