Got started

Now getting serious with the 73 cc.
After many hours of cutting out parts of the old engine, repairing incorrectly done work, painting bilges, removing over thirty years of wires to and from nowhere we got the old beast out.
New to me engine just dropped in. Could not believe how easy that was. I do have to admit my son Ed did most of the work. He's presently a unemployed Merc Tec.
Next step will be to finish the rigging and then the questions start.
Presently no fuel tank so--what size, should we move as far forward as possible.
Cap is NOT connected to hull, I don't know why. Looked under cap seems solid with no sign of rot or foam. So do we screw and glue or just screw it together.
Guess more questions will pop up as we go along.

Looks like a good start. Which power plant is that? Is it EFI, or carbureted?

Looks Nice, what kind of out drive is on it?Keep the pics coming.
I'll be in Sayville in June to visit my son.I'd love to see it if that would be ok.
Trying to get him into a boat, thought a ctr console would be good.

Motor looks good. As far as the cap I would run a bead of 5200 between the hull and cap it then bolt it together. It would not be that much more expensive.

Engine is a 357 Magnum/ 275 HP Carb engine. Dd not go with efi as hp exceeds limit for Alpha Gen 2 Drive. Also efi MUST utilize a thru hull raw water pick up. There is also the weight issue of the bravo drive at 200+ pounds. Did not want to spring the bucks to change over to Bravo set up.
John123 let me know when your down in this neck of the woods. We can get together.
