TO go 25\" or not to go 25\"????

The Seacraft I have purchased has the 20" transom..obviously needs to be repaired(recored)...The motor is an early 90's or older looper 150 Evinrude with 20" shaft....I was thinking of keeping the 20" transom when Don repairs it...and utilize the motor...or should I go 25" and get lower unit extension.....The rest of the hull is solid as a rock ....

as usual I have to keep in mind cost!

Thanks in advance for input

Consarn sickness get you again, Fred? :D
You know the 20" inch transom is obsolete. I thinks ya raise it and find an extension. Especially if you think you might keep it a week or 2. :D :D
The only thing I don't like about my Seafari is the low transom. Seems you've already done a bracket and a shaft extension... Hope all's well. And good luck with the new rig!

Fred,

Compared to the basic cost of redoing a transom, I would think the extra cost of going to 25" from 20" is a nit, even considering cost of an extension. Gillie's right, a 20" transom is obsolete, and that cc model is probably more stern-heavy than your Seafari, so you won't regret having the higher transom. Denny
