115 merc 4 stroke on a 20
 

I found a new merc 115 4 stroke at a local dealer for 8900, is that a good deal and how do yall think it will work on My 20 seafari, is it gonna be too heavy?

What does it weigh? The Seafari is a little less stern heavy than a CC, but it'll still ride and handle better with a lighter motor. For that kind of $, I would bet you could find a new 115 E-Tec that would be lighter (~375 lbs) and a better match for the boat. It would also have more mid-range torque, less maintenance, and similar noise and fuel burn.

weighs 399lbs, Im hopimg they will take a little less as a in the box deal.

I have a 2006 Merc 90 4 stroke on a maycraft 1800. Has run flawless for me, never even a hiccup. I think my powerhead was built by yamaha. Mine is a pig. At first glance you think it's a 150 by the size of it. I wish i had anything negative to say about mine, but other than the physical size of it i have nothing. I do keep the fluids and spark plugs changed frequently, and thus far it has never failed me.

There is a 150 Etec down here for asking 8500 - I think 2008 with 50 hrs - some hook up with Vantage boats. I can find more info if you want but 115 ain't sett'in the world on fire for 400lbs. I would try and stay 130 to 150 minimum, the reason the boat will not get up on the hull, just kinda slog or you will run almost wide open everywhere - killing the fuel- big difference between 3500 and 4500, trust me.
