Hi welcome to csc Plastic tanks are fine if you can find some that will fit.
You can also have your old one repaired [welded] if its not too far gone.
good luck

Re: Fuel tank

The tank on my 72 Seafari is tapered on bottom of fore end and top of aft end to allow the tank to be removed without cutting the floor. Pretty good design me thinks... If yours is that way - and salvageable, I'd consider restoration or duplication. Good luck.

Was that the original tank ?? mine was replaced with what looks like painted stainless with steel fittings welded on poor looking welds, getting pin holes around them, that tapered design sounds good any idea where you got it ??

My tank is original and I have the original dimensions written down somewhere. Will dig them out and send later today. Actual volume worked out to be about 34 gallons.

Re: Fuel tank

Our 66 bowrider came with a 29 gal stainless tank. Removed and replaced with a 29 gal poly tank. Went from a 110 pound tank to about 20. Definitely a good move & happy with the poly tank 4 years later.

Re: Fuel tank

that's a big weight savings, was leaning towards a poly, my Jeep has one since 93 with no problems, no corrosion to deal with, thanks for the help
