Seat for I/O engine cover ?
 

The wife wants some seats on my 23' Tsunami fishing vessel... We're a family of (4) and the boat only has (2) pedestal seats.

I was thinking of making, or having one made; a removeable seat with a back rest, arm rests that will mount to the engine cover on my I/O - and be removed when I don't want it there.

I've seen this type of seat around but not mounted on an I/O engine cover.

Any ideas ( oh, and not having a wife is not an option at this point - maybe after the kids finish school ! )

Get a pair of folding director's chairs. The type with a canvas seat and a canvas back with arms that fold up. They work great. You can set them up facing aft behind the pedestal seats or set them facing forward back on either side of the engine hatch. What's more is if you go fishing, you can put them in the cuddy 'out of the way'.

I've had these on one of my boats in the past. Worked out really well. You can probably make them work for your application.

Thx guys. All good ideas. I'm hoping to one day get around to building box/pedestal seats with an integral fish box on one side and a small tackle center on the other.

This is the basic seat idea and add SS armrests:

I would want it to mount temporarily and securely - directly to the i/o cover.

does the blonde come with purchase ? the one off the site :D those seats are the best I've used them going to the canyons from hyannis sleep on them there great. well i must say anything is better than sleeping on a wet deck

I have a buddy with a 24 Nauset CC, his console is far back enough where they mounted the leaning post right on top of the engine box (on 4in legs). I am not sure how much room you have between your leaning post and the box. I would find a used leaning post, chopping the legs off add some flat flanges and bolt it down. If you wanted to get fancy, add some short rod holder type tubes to the top of the box, and then you could slip the new leaning post in and out.

Thx for replies. Looking for more like what I hyper linked.

How would I attach somethinh like that to the top of my I/O box so it could be easily installed and removed, be solid and when not installed, have very little affect on the I/O cover ?

I checked out your hyperlink.

If you're married to the idea of mounting it on your I/O cover, then all you should really need to worry about are the six holes you will be leaving in the engine hatch cover. They are easily filled in with epoxy and filler. Just make sure you use an adequate base plate inside the engine hatch in order to support the exerted forces of the pedestal. In addition to the Seat you cited on Ebay, you'll need some sort of spider and pedestal base.

The bean bags or directors chairs are your best bet in the interim. Go for it and good luck!
