Inboard rudder Question

Can anyone with a Straight inboard tell me if the 4 bolts that hold the rudder post are recessed on the hull bottom in the pocket. Mine look like they are pulled up into the hull and were maybe covered with caulk at one time. I am not sure if that how they were meant to be or they have been over tightened..

Thanks
Jim

Thanks for the reply

How far are they recessed on yours.. mine are about 1/2 inch.. it looks like there may have been a core in between the fiberglass inner hull and the outer hull. on mine its gone. hope that made sense.. is yours like that? mine doesn't seem loose or anything but with all the other work I am doing on the boat I would like this to be right.

Re: Inboard rudder Question

I think that is how mine is will look when I go to yhe Marna. I also found out the packing whenches don't work very good and went Notethen tool and got a 2 1/4 wench and bought a open end and box end one and cut the box end 1 1/2" AND THEN CUT again with the longer end to go the front gland and this works great.
