Project questions
 

I will try no to ramble but I am slightly overwhelmed by this potential project and am seeking advice. I have a chance to pick up a mid 70's Seacraft 23 cc with a straight inboard. The boat is rough but seems solid. The engine , transmission and all associated components are in place but have been submerged in freshwater for along time and I believe are beyond use. Is it possible / practical to add a bracket and an outboatd to this hull or would it be better to restore it as an inboard. It has a tunnel in the hulls bottom to accomodate the shaft and prop so I have no idea if a bracket could work or not. Any ideas on the costs to replace everything from the engine to the prop? Thanks for your opinions , standing by!

I'd repower with the inboard. They're great fishing platforms, and it will cost much less than bracket and outboard(s).

If the boat was sunk you are going to have wet stringers and deck I'm just guessing the boat sunk or flooded with rain water ! You might be in for the same situation I was or still in :D

Before I put any money down, I'd have it surveyed! Then you will have a better idea of what you are buying. At this point all you know for sure is that it is the right brand and you've got a dream with some money and sweat to back it up. If the item is not up to a basic standard you are willing/able/can afford you are in a heap of disappointment and cost.

The cost of a quality survey will be money well invested vs. the expensive wild goose chase you are possibly looking at without the survey.
