23ft Seacraft with a single 175hp Suzuki

There is a guy on THT that just repowered his 23ft Seacraft with a single 175hp Four Stroke Suzuki (4 cylinder) and get 28mph cruise and 39mph top end.

Pretty nice numbers. Any one every have a 175 or even a 150hp on a 23ft Seacraft.

I think 175hp is too small. I doubt he truely gets those perf. numbers. I get those #s with a lighter 2-stroke 225hp.

I was thinking the same thing. If it's a CC then it will perform slightly better than a Sceptre, but those numbers do seem a bit high.

Wonder what rpms, prop? Seems a little fast, maybe that's including going with the tide or, wind or, running on fumes or, through a bottleneck. Or all the above. ;)

I never would have believed it until this past weekend, but I now actually believe those numbers. I have been messing around with my pile of spare motors. Currently I have a 1979 V200 Mercury 2.4L powerhead on a 2001 200hp mid section/lower unit (This is equivalent to a mid 80's 2.4L 175). Propped right and the motor seems to have plenty of power to push the 23 . . . the numbers above are with a full tank 70 gallons, HUGE 400+lb pilot house, 2 adults, 25hp Kicker, tons of gear.

Eggs . . . I had this same motor on my 18 . . . believe it or not the V200 on my 18 was only 44/45mph with just me onboard and 30 gallons of fuel using a mirage plus 17P. I'll put money that I can top 40mph when I put on the 15P mirage and shed one body in the 23.

So you were motoring down the stream with how much of a tailwind?? LOL! That old engine kicks ---.......!

175

I have an E-tec 175 on my 21- only have 22 hrs. on it but the one time I clocked it, with 95 gallons of fuel and two people on board, I had a 24 kt cruise and top end of 31 kts. Now I used to have a 200 Opti and there is a noticeable difference at top end but since I fish the ocean and rarely run at top end I traded off for much better fuel economy and a quiet reliable engine. My two cents would be that with a 23 those numbers would be hard to attain that he's claiming.

Dog the do make different props, mine will almost do that with one motor trimmed out with way to much prop, (19p powertech 4blade) way to much for a single 150.
