looking at seacraft potter built

:) Hi everyone i am a new member and looking to purchase my first seacraft. I have looked at a few already the one i'm looking at next is a 1976 18' sf seacraft the boat has a new 46 gallon tank but transom and floor are orignal. I looking for advice on the price range foe this boat. It has an older 1985 evinrude 115 HP. My question is should i make an offer based on it being a project boat? It also has electronics that i'm not really interested in. The owner is asking $6500. I personally think this is a little steep. Looking for feedback thanks!

Tautog,

Solafide has it right. The owner likely believes the market is as strong as it was the last time he bothered to look....3-5 years ago. Look at the for sale threads for CURRENT offerings and print them out - Pictures and all. Also point out that these ads are by knowledgable, brand dedicated owners who truly realize the quality and value of what they have, but realize that market conditions are more than depressed.

Your seller may very well decide to keep the boat but give him your business card incase he changes his mind. We are also likely to pay the HIGHEST price for a good boat because we truly appreciate its value.

GFL!

wow 6500 that is a bit steep. I picked up my 20SF with a 95 Merc 150 and MagicTilt trailer for 4500 flat. I mean for 6500 that boat better look like it just left the factory yesterday. GL

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I really want to buy a potter built hull and willing to purchase one that needs floor and transom work. I haven't looked at this one yet, but I'm sure it's going to need work. Again I appreciate all that replied and hope to bring home one of these classics soon! :D
