I have had no trouble finding thermostats for my 1993 evinrude 150, but none of then seem to come with the spring and O ring. Anyone know where i might find the proper spring and o ring? thanks

Go to evinrude or iboats and look up or year, model. You'll get the part #'s, list price. You should be able to get it local though and these are really cheap, probably not worth shipping or waiting.

i can't understand why everyone is so quick to order online, versus go to the local dealer - who probably has these parts, sitting on the shelf ?? is it really worth it to save a few dollars - how much can you possibly be saving ?
i read, hear and see this alot - people should support their local dealer/supply house - reason being, the shop's close by,you don't have to wait for the parts to ship - you can get what you want, right now, and,if you've got a question,or need advice, they're right there...can't do all that on line...

old saying "price alone, will not provide a tue comparison of value"...

remember this, when the day comes, for you to go to the local supply house/dealer,only to find, the place closed - then you complain "there's no where to get anything around here"...

Maybe because some of us have found out that (in FLA) most dealers are pretty lame, and they cause more harm then good...Just my 2 cents.

i'm not being argumentitive - i'm just asking questions...

how can a dealer cause "more harm then good",if you're walking in to purchase a part ?

I'm the first one to support my local trades in all aspects.
What has happened on these older Johnson's the local dealers
do not even stock or in most cases cannot get the parts in a
timely manner. Do to the fact they have to place a $5000 minimum order
with the factory. In today's economy small business's cannot afford
to have dead inventory. Myself being a small business owner. 4 years
ago it was not uncommon to stock over $60K in inventory.
Today more like $8K...

When I needed a set of thermosat hoses for my 1990 90HP Johnson
my local dealer (a friend at that) informed me, Ken just go to iboats...
I do not like it anymore then the rest of you but the plain facts remain.
When you need the part, you need the part!!!

See ya, Ken

I thought it was $10,000 now with BRP, that puts a lot of smaller places in a bad spot for sure.

All true, I had to wait two weeks for a simple manifold drain plug for my mercruiser.
Any our local yamaha shop does good work , but thier parts are usually 30-40% more than MSRP,BLANTANT RAPE, most places online are 20-25% less than MSRP. I support the local businesses that are fair. Even If I have to wait.
