made this mold a few years ago - it "works" either way
it "works" overhead, the "bulge" serves as a flat spot to mount an over head lite

mounted flat, that same area serves as a spot to mount a compass...

this is a real nice part

look for one of these mounted overhead in the pilot house my seacraft is gonna be equipped with...

That's nice how you have it serving double duty.

It is a nice part. And a nice mold.

I've got a couple questions about your process. The first one may be a dumb one. Do you buff out the mold release wax, or leave a thick coating like in the picture? Judging by the gloss finish on the part, I'm guessing you buff it out.

And what's your layup schedule? I see a lot of mat, but I can't make out if you're also using cloth or roving.

The reason I ask is that some of my layups have probably been heavier than they needed to be. It would be a good benchmark to know what kind of layup you're using for a non-structural part like this.

Thanks,
Dave
