Yamaha F100 on a 20"

Is anyone running a Yamaha F100 on a 20".I am looking for performance #s and prop size.I am not looking for speed and will be happy with a top end in the mid 30s with a cruise in the mid to high 20s.The 20" that I owned 25years ago performed very well with a Mercury 115 "tower of power".I'm just looking for opinions
Thankyou

I think fishstu is running f100 on a 20 MA. He reported 33mph and excellent economy which is about whats expected. Not sure what prop he uses, but a 13x15 or 13x17 yamaha semi-cleaver would probably hit the mark. Look into the PowerTech SCD series. They also make a 4 blade which would plobably maximize your efficiency.

I doubt it will jump out of the hole like the old tower but you'll likely double economy with little performance loss.

Maybe fishstu will chime in.

I have a F100 on a master angler. I like it and it is fast enough for New England waters. And light enough to allow a kicker, too (just).

With no kicker and the stern lifting prop I mentioned you might be able to use a regular fin, not a hydroshield, and get the same or slightly better performance, but that's a guess. Or go down in pitch and get better holeshot. I still haven't synced or timed the motor, and it has a little bog at 3000 rpm but it isn't a problem, as that is a speed faster than "no wake" but slower than planing speed.

a 20-inch SC with an F100?

Wow. An F100 on the back of a 20-inch SC? ...and I thought mine was stern-heavy... I'll bet that one needs trimtabs...

Wanna buy a splashwell?

Sceptre20 10-29-2011 07:50 PM

The F100 is the same weight as the Merc v6 that was on it so I don't expect any big issues with the weight.Until the recent changes to the site I was known as "Sola fide" and am already on your list for a splashwell

Yeah, I know. I was just yanking your chain about your typo...20" vs. 20'...

FYI, we're now up to 7 requests for the splashwell. Hoping to ge a few more. I hope to get the project moving by the end of November...

OOPS
Good catch.

The f100 is not that heavy at all for a 20'. I put a 2009 225 Suzuki 4 stroke on mine. It was a little heavy but not to bad. Never had trim trabs on it. They rigged the new ones before they shut down the factory with 140 4 strokes.
