how ? how do these things happen ?

the ramp is usually a great source for entertainment - no denying that !
i've seen quite a few interesting things at the ramps,delivering client's boats:
fist fights - guys screaming at their wives/girlfriends - people who can't back up a trailer - seen big aluminum bunk trailers float up and get pinned in the pilings - seen people back down the ramp with the winch cable disconnected - roller trailers - and unload the boat on the ramp...are people really this stupid ? honestly - i understand accidents happen,but seriously,wouldn't common sense come into play,at some point ?

this is at a ramp in florida - late model truck - it's upside down ? ?

Ohhhhhh, I've done that several times. Its really not as hard as you would think it is..... :o :o :p :p

Looks like the ramp at the Alafia River in Riverview, FL., Williams Park. That's the US41 bridge in the background. I'm not positive!!, however it should be familiar because I've consumed a few brews there loading/unloading boats.

Just to let you know, that's not my truck.

Didn't it float shortly and roll then the tide receded? Pretty clever,lol.

I'll never forget an ugly scene by a guy in Dania,FL. He was trying to hand winch the boat up a steep ramp, of course the pawl didn't catch and it went into freewheel & back down, next he broke the cardinal rule. He panicked and tried to grab the freewheeling handle then tried with the other arm. The guy was really lucky he only broke his wrist on one arm and broke his thumb and filet his palm open on the other. A couple of us that were there saw the winch was scrap metal, not a drop of grease on any thing and the spring was rotted away and missing.

Actually it's in Gibsonton, Fl. The winter home of the carnival folks.....aka "carnies". I would tell you more, however you would not believe everything I would say....too far out there for most folks.

I have a simple term for these days....

i'm just facinated at the stupidity of people...a guy i know,"mad mike",a nice gentleman,however,he makes a fatal mistake,he believes his skill level is much higher than what it is - he backed his shamrock down the ramp - with the winch cable unhooked - unloaded it,on the ramp - blocked the ramp for a few hours ? i honestly do not know what people are thinkin',when they get to the ramp...when i ask the question - "how",i'm serious,"how" do people do these things ?

let me add this:

i'm not a smart man,never profess to be - i stick within my "skill level" - meaning,i don't know anything about analytical geometry,or solving world hunger - i won't even try - knowing,it's beyond my skill level...
what i can not understand is why and how people get into positions like this ?
i am facinated at the stupidity of the american public anymore - a friend of mine,and me,we were discussing this very subject
again,i do not think,or profess to be a smart man - but,some of the dumb things i see people do,causes me to believe i'm a flat out genius...

Haven't been back for a while, but the absolute best show in Miami on a weekend afternoon was Crandon Park boat ramp. Take a reved up cubano culture, add too many pops and enough heat to fry whatever brain cells are left and you have the perfect recipe for hilarious disasters. . . . . . Well maybe not so funny if its your boat in the way.

Cuban launch: Back down real fast and slam on brakes at just the right time. When it works well, the boat jumps off the trailer and into the water real quick, very fast and efficient. HOWEVER, sometimes it ain't done right and the boat ends up high and dry on the ramp with the drive broke off or the truck ends up in the water. I spent a lot of time at boat ramps and saw it happen more often than you would believe. I never saw one flip though, neat trick.
