sealing hatches

Have an '85 20ft cc seacraft. Question: Any recommendations of how I might seal them to prevent at least some water from getting in them?

I have an 85 20cc currently off being rebuilt and from what i have been told no matter what you do to them water is going to get in. Im doing away with the hatch on top and putting doors on the front

Guys,
Which hatches are we talking about here? The ones that open to the bilge (tank hatch and one in the splash well) or the hatches to the anchor locker, fish box, console seat, and transom storage?

Anchor stowage, transom storage are the hatches I'm speaking of.

I'am doing my fishbox this weakend a sheet neoprene on the underside of the hatch and switching to a compression latch

Um... Yes. Well, good luck.

The ones opening to the bilge are pretty easy to seal, the others not so much. They don't have deep enough channels around them (anchor locker, fish box) or no channel at all (transom boxes) to carry water away. Installing gaskets may help a little, but you're both in Florida, and with our rainfall and humidity, I think they're just going to be wet. If it works, let us know what you did.

Thanks for the input! The bow and stern compartments all have drains but of course not deep enough in the compartments to drain an inch or two of water in the bottoms. Was hoping to come up with something cause the mosquitos are BAD where I reside. Oh well--I'll keep staring at the boat and maybe some idea might come to light! Yeah, right.

Yeah i was referring to the aft corner boxes.
