advice please
I just made a mold for a 36x36 gas tank hatch . The hatch was replaced with Starboard, it is very slippery under foot. So anyway I made the mold out of MDF which i learned to do on this site . my question is this, instead of Duratec can i use Gelcoat on top of the PVA just before layup ? Thanks John,

Yes. Lay all your gel down in one setting. Let it cure then start your lay up.

advice please
Thank you Strick, it was your thread, ( I need a shrink ) that inspired me to build this hatch. I am a huge fan of your work. I just hope it comes out well enough for me to post some pics when its done. Again thanks for your response. john,

With the help of this site and Threads Here we go again and I need a shrink. Here are some pics of the 36x36 gas tank hatch build. you can see a mold made of M D F. modeling clay used for radius's, It was then sprayed with with wax and PVA. 5 coats i think then gelcoat was sprayed and brushed do to my sprayer breaking 90 % of the way through. ( but of course) then 2 layers of mat. Tomorrow i will add 5x5 pieces of plywood core using cabosil and resin then more mat. Tanks guys.
