1987 23 Center Console

I'm going to apologize in advance for asking this because I think the topic has been beaten to death in the forum. I'm a new forum member who bought a 20' Seafari I/O about 18 months ago and was struggling with how far to go on it to get it where I want it. I can't make a big initial outlay of cash for a turnkey boat and I won't finance one. So I'm effectively "self-financing" by paying for the repairs as I go. It may cost me more in the long run, but it wasn't interest expense.

The bottom line is I want a center console and I think I want a 23'. I have my eye on a 1987 23' Center Console. I'm pretty sure it's not Potter built, I just want to ensure that the 1987's were still built solidly and not by Tracker Marine.

Can somebody tell me about the lineage of the 23's and speak to the quality of their construction? I appreciate any advice.

You can tell who made it by the Hull ID number. Here's the lineage based on the first three letters of the HIN:

SEC = SeaCraft Inc (Potter 1969 thru 5/80)
CSY = Carribbean Sailing Yachts (1980-1982 23'& 27' SeaCrafts only)
SIC = SeaCraft industries Corp (1980 thru 1987 other SeaCraft Models) (Potter on Board of Directors approx 1 year after sale)
TXY = Sarasota Marine Corp ('86-'88 csy Parent Co)
SIC = Tracker SeaCraft of Fla (1987 thru 1990) all models
SXC = Stern Craft Corp (1994 Silver King Parent then Tracker Parent Co in 1995)
MIC = Silver King Boats (1994-2002 Mako Marine Parent Co)
MRK = Mako Marine (2002 Parent Co SeaCraft from Tracker

An '87 is most likely a Tracker hull, but there's nothing wrong with them.

No, it's a different boat. I hope to see it this weekend.

Thanks for the model listing Blue Heron. I knew I had seen it somewhere in the forum...
