Asking a stupid question here....

What is that metal loop on the bow called and what is it for?

My 88 has the same thing (i just got it) and i've never seen one before. A rod runs down and interconnects with the bow eye. Looks like yours is the same.

that is a lifting ring so the boat can be kifted with davits
