89 20' cc help

1 Attachment(s)
I am looking at buying my first sc 89 20'. I know it is not a classic and that there were some quality issues with Tracker. Below are some pictures of the hull near the stern of the boat. I want to know if this is just a bad paint job or is there something structural going on. The boat has a few minor soft spots on the deck, but that is something that will be repaired at a later time. There is a 95 150 hp johnson on it with trailer for 8500. Is this a good deal? Any help would be appriciated.

That's a hard picture to tell. However, i can help you with a price comparison. I just bought a 1989 SC 20 as well. Came with a 1999 Load Rite tandem axle roller trailer and had a 1996 200 merc 2 stroke on it. Running package and i paid alot less than 8500 for it in Maryland.

I don't like to advertise actual numbers online but if you want the details email me directly at ocsurf80 @ y a h o o.com

Doesn't really sound like it. At best, that's a bad bottom paint job that should be stripped. I paid $2k less than that for my '83 in '06 when it wasn't a buyer's market, and it didn't have those kinds of issues.

If you can muster the patience to keep looking, I suspect you'll find something in better shape for less money.

I agree Dave, looks like they went to Dollar General and bought some white spray paint and painted over the old bottom paint........I see soda blasting.

greenwing it would help if we could see more of the boat to give a better answer. but i also just bought my 1971 20sf and it is realy clean, and paid 5800. but it was ready to go with new T top and leaning post. 2 year old transom and 5 year old yellow paint that still looks new. did need to upgrade the old trailer though. like Blue Heron said... be paitiant!!!
