Trailer Rehab
I had some extra time over the winter so I decided to do a little trailer work. It did the job but it had been painted with a brush a couple times and was hard to keep clean.
Before. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/000_0078.jpg I never noticed it at the time but the front roller bar was mounted upside down on one side. If you look close by the frame you can see it just in front of the wheels. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/000_0074.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/000_0078.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/3360f5a5.jpg Which caused this..... http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/e56c7785.jpg Anyway, I got it apart. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...009_225440.jpg ground off most of the old paint and did some body work. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/62cb4a0b.jpg painted http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/a1d53176.jpg which was the easy part as it turns out.... Its all the other crap that has to be redone that takes the time. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/d05883d3.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/ad31459f.jpg |
Getting it back together
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/2e88e26f.jpg Had to get some new fenders because paint just wont stay on em... http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/e7a5bd2a.jpg All new LED lighting including reverse and under fender lights to check/change tires at 3 a.m. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/e2c12960.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/eff2ee9d.jpg There was a walkway on it already so I decided to pimp that out too. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/4310bed0.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/9acefac1.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/91a91e63.jpg The white on the boards has kinda faded away as I put the seal coat on the sand tonight, but it still looks good. I did like the bright white though..... Time to load it. Dont mind the house siding, it is a work in progress. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/34b20412.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/816bfcdc.jpg 2 inch ball and a 2 5/16 reciever.... pulled off while I was pulling the wifes car back with the winch. Tense moment there. At least the yard matches the house.... http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/59710467.jpg getting there. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/96902b80.jpg Its out!!! http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/50809ff0.jpg Yes, the "boathouse is nicer than the people house.... Just need to attach the walkway and do some final touch ups and I'm ready to go.. :) |
Looking Good!!
Wow looking good!
I like the wheel well lights. Are they on a switch or steady burning? Also like the idea of having reverse lights.. Now I have another project to add to my list... pimp my trailer. Safety note... get help putting springs back on... let's just say the last time I replaced my springs almost lost a finger... rushing the job and working alone. Thank God I could reach my big screwdriver with my free hand. :-) |
They will be switched as my buddy (a cop) was not sure of what other cops would say about them. He told me to say that they are for safety, which I guess they kinda are.
I got booted off photobucket (poor excuse for a website) So i will post the rest of the pics now maybe..... As long as I had to fix the bottom from the rollers I figured I would try to fix a major scratch she had in the bow when I bought it. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/18b7f754.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/5c027b9a.jpg http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/dff299e9.jpg It looks pretty damn good, if you didnt know it was there you would never see it kinda deal. Bottom repair. http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/d...t/eaf8de01.jpg Its good enough for now, next winter I am gonna clean it all up and repaint it because I now have 9 spots I have repaired on it. need to mount a couple more things (strainer, thru hull ducer) then I can finish it. Enough for now, hopefully I can get it out with the walkway on it and clean it all up this weekend and get a "final" pic. Hope it lives up to Seacraft standards. :) :p ;) |
The trailer looks really nice. Regarding the fender lights, I'm guessing it's considered a hazard to other drivers if they're constantly on, so probably a good idea that you have them switched.
Dare I say this trailer will get Capt Chuck's "Gucci" stamp of approval? ;) |

Floorboy,
GREAT job on your trailer. A first class restoration! Did you do anything to the axles? Bearings or Brakes? |
Thanks. The axles were all redone last year. Looked good so I let them be for now. Had to put all new spring hardware on.
