boat cover
Looking for a good quality trailerable boat cover for an 18' Seacraft. any leads/links would be appreciated.

Hate to be this way......trailerable and good quality boat cover will not work for very long.
I never trailer my boat with the cover on. As a matter of fact I just dropped off my Hewes today to the same folks who made my original cover twelve years ago, I figure if they can make one that lasts that long without trailering I'll continue that procedure. |
Classic Accessories Storm Pro and Dallas Manufacturing HarborMaster Premium are some decent quailty covers for cheap. 600 denier poly and decent stitch work.
They describe them as trailer-able and have 5 year warrantys. I remove mine for trailering so I can't attest to that, but its held out weather and dust for 5 years for under a hundred bucks. Use water pipe insulation to prevent tearing. If it tears, send it back I guess. Check online for best pricing. WalMart is currently carrying the HarborMaster brand. Premium is much better than Silver line. Classic Accessories is a little nicer, but still under $200 for the 22' version http://www.mytarp.com/stormpro-boat-cover.aspx |
How is the fit over the console ?
|
My 20 is actually a Seafari (cuddy). I put 20' of 2" pvc from the bow rail over the windshield to the top of the motor and strap it down. The 20 and 18 have a 7'6" beam so the fit is fine. Run a tape measure from port to starboard over the windshield I'm guessing it will be less than 106".
My bow rail is nearly a foot tall and the windshield rises 2' at the widest part of the boat and the cover still manages to cover the rub rail up in both places. They do make a center console model but if you have a T-top too then your looking at another issue. The current HarborMaster has weak elastic on the perimeter. My old one had adjustable straps held snug to gunwales much better I think. I think the Classic Accessories Storm Pro is a better product but I haven't received mine for the 21 yet. |
I just picked up a cover for my 18SF on ebay and it fits awesome. also very heavy duty with a 5 year warranty. I am very happy with it.
here is the link. It will also work with high bow rails and standard center console windshield! Closest to custom fit you can get. I will post pics if you need to see it on my 18SF http://www.ebay.com/itm/290709263893...84.m1497.l2649 -Fred |
Which one did you get Fred ? The bidding on the link you posted expired so I can't tell which cover you purchased . A pic would be nice if you don't mind.

His link was to the GulfStream cover also by Dallas Manufacturing , 5 year warranty, comes in blue

I see that , I just want to confirm its the 17'-19' that actually fits his 18' because they do list another one for 17'6"-21'6" and I'd hate to get the wrong one & have to pay for shipping it back. They list the 17'-19' to fit a beam of up to 96" and although the beam on the 18' Seacraft is only 90" across , when I measured my boat from the gunnel to the top of the center console windshield and across to the other gunnel , it's 146" & that's not including any overhang on the hull sides.I would also like to take him up on his offer to post a picture before I purchase one.

Mine's Taylor Made which can be bought from ebay. It's advertised as trailerable. I've never tried it and probably won't but it's pretty well made in Sunbrella. This for 23' ~ 3-4 yrs. ago was about $350 if I remember. I would get another.
