twin I/O questions

Tsunami with twin I/Os

I have twin straight sixes which I did get running and 165 merc outdrives...trim and tilt still giving me fits...I was thinnking of selling the sixes with outdrives ????

I will be using this boat as an intracoastal cruising boat and light fishing

Ouestions.....I keep pondering this over and over in my head and need some direction etc......

-Should I keep plugging away with the sixes for now and get t/t rectified or sell motors outdrives (if any interest)to go towards the purchase of a D. Herman bracket and run a single outboard...?

-Also, any good suppliers for parts (down the road) for the 165 250 ci and also merc. (pre-alpha 165)outdrives?

Thanks in advance,

Fred

About three months!!!
Just trying to find a supplier with all parts I might need for the trim/tilt..I have manual but need to spend some time on it...dont want to dump $500 or so into trim tilt parts if not good return on investment down the road!...guess it never is with a boat

i'll throw another option into the mix...

those old engines/drives why not repower with a single stern drive ?

pull the old, fabricate a replacement engine bed, replace transom, install a new single set up - it's gonna be considerible cheaper than going with outboard and a bracket...

going with new,everything's included,drive,transom plate,hydraulics-tilt n trim,and engine...

Awesome idea..Gillie hinted at that when I bought boat..I think that is a great path to take and most cost effective.....!!!!!

Questions.........
Any good suppliers out there that I could go with for new engine/outdrive package etc???
or should I go with donor boat with good engine outdrive...If I go this used route might open up another can of worms though with used engine & drive!??

Thanks again and more help/direction appreciated!!!

if you're smart, you're gonna avoid playing the "donor boat" game

make the smart play,buy new...

get a "package",drive, transom plate and engine...also another smart play is to get the smartcraft package, plug n play guages, and get the replacement harness for the engine, swap out the remote and the cables at the same time, make up new battery cables, and now you've got a true repower...

the volvo's are another great power system, these have proven to be very reliable - i have a few clients with the newer volvo power systems - the prices of parts are a little more than mercruiser...but,an excellent choice as well...
