New boat owner 20' 1989 SeaCraft?
 

What do you think? Comes with trailer, gps, radio, engine is a 95 w/ 100 original hours. There is a metal plate on the transom new leaning post with rod holders, clean.
This boat has new.hyd steering ...gauges .controles. cables, electronics, new never used lean post.motor was from a boat that sat in storage....150 hp great ride at a small price $7,500 firm.
This is our first boat. I have heard great things about SeaCrafts.

The plate on the transom is a flag. The transom on the `89 is 2 3/8" thick and rated for a 235.

Only people with soft bones run that fast. Eat more iron.

Look at the transom pic they added a metal plate there. Any thoughts or does it look pretty good? Sea trial should be tomorrow night.

No one adds a transom plate as a desirable option. On the other hand you could run it for years with that.

Where is that monkey with the 50 cal?

That is what I was thinking, this transom is going nowhere!

I gave my opinion on THT, the plate means nothing in most cases, the boat looks sweet and very well cared for - I put a backplate on my 23 when I put the V8 on it - as well as 1/2" angle bar along the inside top, nothing wrong with the transom, it was just soooo high - but flew

I'm with the dog on this one. I wouldn't make any assumptions about the transom based on that plate. A large transom plate is a red flag, but this one's not big enough to fix transom flex, just big enough to spread the load of the engine mounting bolts (assuming it extends to the inside of the transom). Hop on the lower unit and bounce to see if the transom has flex. Check for soft spots in the deck and the forward part of the cap. If these things check out, and the engine is good, it's probably worth the price.

Looks to me like somebody put that plate on there to mount up a 25in motor on a 20in transom. The bolts are on the lowest holes and it looks like the transom is way below the saddle. Just a thought I would check the S# tag on the motor.
