Jet ski Impact

Left my boat at the dock over the 4th, left dock at 5:30 am on 5th to go fishing. When I pulled the boat out of the water later that afternoon, I found this...

You can see the hull flexed enough to pop out the vent hole plug. When I bought then hull, the previous guys had already plugged the vents, he just used a small mount of matt of the plug, so it was not in their every well. there is cracking on the inside as well, some fairing cracks and a little on one of the hullside stiffeners.

I think I will just make a temporary fix for now, then make the real fix and re-paint this winter.

Sorry to see, I bet you want to impact someones head with a fist full of dumbass!!!

Thanks for evincing ; FG matt has its place but that's not it!!!!

Nice Cobia, bet it gave you a workout, especially if he was on or near that marker,
they are smart fish, they will almost always try to cut you off on a marker or structure.

Hey Brian. Thats why my shooting line was attached to the senator with 100 braid :)

I just got a chance to really check out the damage, its more extensive than I first thought. Stiffeners on inside are delaminated at the top, hull/cap is delaminted in a spot (I glass hull to cap from the underside). This was a pretty major impact. It just a boat, but I am pretty mad about the time its going to take me to fix it.

FWC is on the case and I have some leads on the perps.

Damn, Joel. That's got to be frustrating after all the work you put into it. Unfortunately, Jet skis are often operated by idiots. I hope you catch the A-hole that did it and can hold him accountable.

Amen brother Dave!!!!

The only thing we can hope is the "leads on the perps" the FWC has originated from the emergency room!

How do you know it was a jet ski? I can't think of anything that high up on a jet ski that would leave a mark like that. Not interested in defending jet skiers, just finding out who did it.

impact was about 1' above water line, the hull flexing caused the vent patch to pop out. Its like when you squeeze one side of the Tupperware and the opposite side top pops off.

Delamination of about 6" of the hull to side tabbing. Delamination of the top hull side stiffener. Delamination of about top 5" of fiberglass box frame.

No surprise the hull vent patch came out, it was not even glassed on the inside and just some matt on the front. The was work already done when I bought the hull. Would have been OK if not for this impact.

there is also some cracking of the fairing compound between the tow hull side stiffeners, but it does not appear to be very bad. My plan is to fix the delamination now, return the stiffness, then use the boat until winter when I can cosmetically make it look new again. Unfortunately, I am going to eventually need to re-paint the whole port side on the out side and a few section on the inside. :x

yesterday I ground out the delmainated glass, and then back up the stiffener and the frame so the new glass will have plenty of overlap to bite
