"knees"
 

I want to install large knees or gussets from my stringers to the transom, or the addition of an outboard bracket. ow high up should the knees go relative to the deck of the bracket platform bolt thru, Should I also add a longitudinal beam across the transom ?

I have seen on my same model boat where twins were added, the transom sagged and bowed so badly that it popped the transom out of the cap where the two overlap with the shoe box joint

Exactly, the knees I will be installing will be going from the tops of the inboard stringers up, I think I will tie the horizontal beam into the tops of the knees.

who ever closed the transom on my sf20 ran them all the way to the shear line on top of the transom, looks like a brick sh** house!! I have been meaning to take detailed photos to post here and see if anyone recognizes the work or could avise if i could cut them down to incorporate a curved cap with compartments over the transom,but I have been to busy at work and trying to wear my seacraft out to help myself let the knowledge here help me:-) pics coming soon....long live CSC.com

Chuck-I am also adding knees to beef up the transom. What glass dis you use on yours? They look great and more importantly, they look solid.
