repairing rotted decks

i've seen and read some interesting ways to repair a rotted deck...

today,
workin on a big job in the shop - i've seen it all now...

the pilot house deck is rotted out - the pedestal seat,it's base was pulling out o the deck - due to this rotted core, the previous owner,he had a large plate welded to this base, then used toggle bolts to secure it,to that rotted deck - then, shot spray foam into the bilge to take up the space and stiffen that rotted deck...

needless to say : it failed miseribly...

the extent of rot on this rig in pretty hard to believe - i thought grady white's rotted bad - wow ! thi may be the worst case of rot i have ever seen...

Well, nobody ever said that boat owners were rocket scientists. lol I bet that the previous owner thought that he had a simple, ingenious fix for his problem that is now up to you to fix.
