2000 20' Seacraft & 200 Yamaha OX66 Prop Selection?
 

Looking for first hand knowledge of prop pitch and diameter selection from someone having a 20' seacraft (late model - 25" transom) with a 200 HP 2 stroke (HPDI, OX66, or Opti)?

The mercury prop selector is advising anything between a 21 through a 25 pitch and three or four blade. Does anyone have experience with a similar set up that can help narrow this?

Running chop on bay and ocean in Miami.

if you do a search of the forums i believe you will find plenty of info. I think there are at least a few running that exact engine would could probably dial you in without too much effort.

I have posted up a couple very detailed posts, I have a 200 Merc so has to close. I have a T Top but mine with 2 different props 19's were fine, wouldn't pull a 21.

I stumbled on a Stilletto and the numbers are as good as you could ask, I forget which threads but gave motor height set up and slip numbers

Same setup running a Yam 21" pro series with a 200 ox-66

Yo cuz(no bones) your up to early....

I was able to borrow a copy of a Yammy Saltwater Series 23P and took her out for a test run last weekend.....52.5 mph (GPS) at 4600 rpm WOT. Given it was blowing 18 knots and I had a rear quartering wind. I think eggsucking dog has it right with a good 19 P.
Luckily I have two designs to try this week.

After the first run with the 200, all I can say is WOW! She just wants to fly. And the OX66 seems to be a perfect match for her, only squatting another inch compared to the 4 stroke 115 I had on her. Scuppers are still above waterline. Now I only need to wait for the calm summer waters to really unleash those horses.

find a 19 Stilletto you will happy beyond your wildest dreams - they pretty cheap compard to most others - its apparently made by Yamaha now - under the Trophy brand and Stilletto is the cheaper version exactly the same

Ok through experimenting with different props, I have settled on two...a very clean LaserII 19P I stumbled across for $100. I know there are better props out there but these are proven and its at the right price. I also came across a like new Merc through hub 21P cleaver for $65 (cheap) and have been contemplating buying it for a summer/calm water prop. I have realized through experimentation that I do not need bow lift in a prop on a 19.5' boat with 200 on the back, but rather something with more slip since I have my cavitation plate only an inch above the hull bottom. I am reluctant to raise my engine because I do run it a lot in open ocean and make hard turns while dropping and picking up freedivers when spearing soit needs to hold in a tight turn.


Next question: Yamaha Ring Free? Yes/No, Continuous or Shock treatment? What are your thoughts?
