1979 SeaCraft Brochure/Hull laminate comparison

Here's an interesting brochure I picked up down at the Miami Boat Show years ago. I have a .pdf version that's a little easier to read than this .jpg version but it's to big to post. Can e-mail it to anyone that want's one if you PM me with an address.

One thing that jumped out at me was that the 23/25/27' SeaCraft layup compares very favorably to the 26/28' Bertram, but the Bertram had wood stringers, as did most of the other boats of that era! The SeaCraft stringer layup and bonding also appears more robust than the Aquasport and Pacemaker that used glass stringers. They also used more mat between the gel coat and roving than anyone else, evidently to eliminate print-thru of the roving into the outer surface. When you compare the SeaCraft construction details to the competition, it's really obvious why they were considered a PREMIUM boat back in the day! Enjoy! Denny

Very cool. Love these old brochures. Does anyone have pics of the 23 Sceptre Flybridge that's mentioned? That's got to be a rare bird. Thanks for sharing, Steve

We purchased our 20' Seacraft Seafari in 1976. On 3rd motor, many hours, no structural issues.
Boat now has a Suzuki140 with 225 hours, With approximately a combo of 5 hours running @25 to 28mph and trolling @ 2500rpms we burn 4.2 to 5.2 gph.
Boating in Baja Mexico

I remember the 1979 New Your Boat show. A beautiful 23" CC with a 225 and a 15 kicker. Even had a nice paper chart machine. Somewhere my parents have a photo or slide of me standing next to it. I had this exact brochure years ago.

Baja? 5.2gph? I`m thinking I may have some jealousy issues.

Nice post Denny.

Hey Brian, yeah I had one of those 6" paper chart machines, I think King was the brand....oh, and a King loran. Thought I was a bad a$$ at the time, however 35 years later it is pure junk compared to today's electronics.

actually I still think I could find grouper better with my old King than with my lowrance - awesome machine - the guys thought I could smell them

"the guys thought I could smell them"

Hey Dixon, I think what you were smelling was the stylus burning the chart paper.....however it might have been the smell of the J<>B rolling papers. :)
