Loose screws holding down CC in '85
Greetings,
I think time and a lot of waves have taken its toll on a handfull of screws that seem to hold the Center consul in place. On my boat around the CC there are srews every 2{ and a handful are loose and come out/loosen all the time. Would you recommend using the next size up screw and some 5200? I would really appreciate advice on this. Thanks, Justin |
Remove the loose scres and re-bed the loose screws with epoxy/cabosil. Inject the exopy and cabosil mixture and immediate install the screw. The epoxy will harden around the screw and give a firm fixture.

it's a hole - open on the bottm and the top - the epoxy drips rght through ... usually when the screws keep loosening,it's a result of the core being compromised -i know this isn't what you want to hear... a smart move may be to really inspect that area of the deck |
Do the hammer tap around the console...that will tell you if its going soft or not.
The quick fix would be similar to the first post...except use Six-ten non sagging and will fill the hole without running out. Let it dry and re-tap. |
Thanks guys.. I will do the hammer test and go from there. This forum is great! Appreciate all the help.
