Cabin hatch
Hi guys been doing a slow rebuild so I can keep fishing as I go . My issue is the cabin hatch is missing I made a wooden one but it doesn't work. Look ing for somewhere to buy one or ideas on how to make my own. I am not a master craftsman like some Csc members but I do ok
Thanks Fred |
Are you talking about the sliding hatch? Or is it the plexi one that you need?
|
Not Shure I never had one but from pictures of other boats it is the ont that hinges about 1/3 of the way back and the foreward part has a plexiglas window.
Thanks Fred |
What about doing something out of Starboard?
|
Starboard would be good but I am not Shure how to build the underside , and how to lock it down in the front. How do you fasten starboard together epoxy , screws or both ?
Thanks Fred |
Fred, I had the same problem last year. I made one out of a 3/8" piece of fiberglass board. It was a little tough to work with, but I wanted something strong enough to stand on. I ended up cutting it into 3 separate pieces with a stainless piano hinge with a piece of vinyl wrapped over the top to keep water out. It held up great last year. Good luck - any questions, just ask.

Zen I like the idea of being able to stand on it. Where did you get the fiberglass board? How did you attach the strips on the bottom?
Thanks in advance Fred |
