Kiwigrip Question

Getting ready to paint my deck with Kiwigrip and wondering if I need to sand down the original deck non slip strips or will Kiwigrip cover them? If I need to sand them down how big of a job is it?

It's a pain to sand/fair the stripes, and no Kiwigrip won't cover them completely unless you use their tool and make the peaks and valleys very large. I didn't like that look on the boat. Kiwi is harder to sand/grind than the stripes! I also found the Kiwi hard to keep clean, it seems to stain and hold dirt. If I had to do it over I think I would use Awlgrip.

Thanks for the info... looks like I will be sanding. I have heard many good reports about Kiwigrip but may need to look into Alwgrip a little more before I buy anything.
