Screws for gunnel racks
 

I am trying to finish off a few items so that I can launch this weekend.

Can anyone save me some driving around with a 2 & 4 year old by telling me what hardware I need to install the gunnel mounted rod racks on a 23'?

I didn't make a list before leaving the boat last weekend. I thought I would have all this weekend to work on the boat but a work emergency for my wife means I'm watching my daughters as well. I'm going to try and get it done anyway but that means I need to fit 4 hours of work in to a 2 hour window, with the girls helping.

If you are referring to the two teak racks (per side) that mount under the gunwales aft on the cockpit liner, I believe you want #10 or #12 stainless screws, 3" long. Going from memory, so suggest picking-up both sizes if relying on my info.

Warning. Not sure of the 23 , but my `89 20 had length specific screws. I mixed one up and almost put one through the hull side. Lucky I was screwing by hand and felt it getting stiff. Well, it`s DoDo season and big seas again. Arrgh. Six pack boat? Why not.

Turns out the racks weren't a perfect fit anyway. I'm going to have to scribe them to fit. Still putting it in tomorrow and will do the work in the slip when I get around to it. Thanks for the advice though. Fyi. My measurements look like I need 1 1/2" screws.
