Choosing a console for my 1969 20' SeaCraft
Hello SeaCraft community -
I've recently acquired a 1969 20' SeaCraft CC and I'm underway on the rebuild. I have limited fiberglass experience and am working with a reputable builder on the rebuild. I'm really struggling however with selecting a fiberglass console and would appreciate everyone's comments & suggestions. I've looked at the consoles offered by C&M Marine, Panga, etc. I'm also considering looking for the original console in an attempt to keep the rebuild close to a restoration. I'd love to hear how everyone chose to acquire/build a console and perhaps some rough dimensions. I'd be forever grateful for some assistance here, I obviously want to do this right the first time. I don't like mine either. Too wide. Was thinking about channeling 6-12 inches out of it. I'm way too cheap to buy one new...

I think that you will find on this site a lot of people say there is not enough room to wall around the original console. Most change them out or narrow them up by cutting a section out of them. I have a nice blank myself that I got from a boat yard one day when I was called out to do electrical work there. (part time electrical contracting business) Instead of payment I got paid in boat parts. (new blank console and other items) I thinking of popping a mold off mine before I use it while it is blank because it is the perfect size for a 18-21 boat with a nice lay out. If I didn't have this I probably would of just cut mine down or found a used one off another boat and blanked it out and started over fresh with it.
