23' CC Performance
 

I recently bought a 23' CC, 1984, with a 250 Yamaha HDPI (2003), it has a 17' stainless prop. She cruises about 22.5 - 23 knots at 4000 RPM. Haven't opened it up yet, but thought that she would be a bit faster at this RPM. Is this speed about right for 4000 RPM based on how she's powered? She also has a T-top with a glass top.

So far I like the way she rides just need a bit more time to get out and run her, put her through the paces. Appreciate any comments.

I've got my GPS set on MPH so you can adjust the numbers to knots, however at 4000 rpm running from my place to the Sunshine Skyway bridge last week against the wind and calm water , I would say no more than a medium load, I ran about 26 - 27 mph, coming back with the wind about 29 -30 mph. Merc 225 hp with a 17p prop.

At 4200 rpm with a Honda 225, I'm at 25 mph. 23 Seacraft, large CC, large t-top. WOT is 42 mph and 6200rpm

My boat likes 4200 rpm and 40 mph,with a full load and two people.Twin 175 mercurys and a armstrong bracket

Did you mean 30 mph? If not, 40 mph on a GPS is very sweet! Makes your MPG look nice even with 2 engines.....shoot if we started side by side after half an hour of running your way, way out of sight.

If you keep the boat light you might be able to swing a 19 pitch. My 23' with an F250 runs 30 mph at 4000 RPM, burning 9 or less GPH, turning a merc revolution 4 blade. I rebuilt my boat light and rarely have more than 55 gallon on board, so she is fast. But with two full tanks, 3 guys, gear, and 100+ lbs of ice and fish the fuel burn goes up only a little.

I would try a 19 4 blade if i were you, you might even be able to raise the motor a notch
