there is a classic 23 in chatham with diesel and jackshaft, dave in chatham, he moved up to a 42 bruno stillman for horse shoe'ing, think his dad has the boat still. as I recall he has the engine mounted between console and stern and moved the console forward. like a 31 Holland downeast with the raised engine box and lid. his dad has a diesel engine shop so I trust in how dave set his up.

Great video, Dave!

I also looks like he has some additional "spray rails" towards the bow. Looks like they work.

I can't take credit for finding the video. Bigshrimpin posted it a while back and I saved it.

Sorry to get side tracked here . . . Did you guys see this video? 58 seconds into it is the military SAM USV based on the 25 seafari hull.

I wonder if you could just move the engine hump forward 3 feet?

It would make for better fishing access at the stern, you could use the fuel tank hatch cutout as a start, and you could walk around the hump on the port side to gain access to the cabin? I think it is 16-18" from the deck to the keel stringer there.

It might wash out in CG though, if you fill a stern tank or two with fuel.

No way I would try this until I had to repower, and that would mean a diesel.

When I bought it, my 25 was set up with dual side consoles set back about where a center console would be, and it just didn't work. The previous owner cut off the windshield and sent it to the dump in an effort to remedy the poor sight lines over the cabin, which is why I had to make my own. So a 25 Seafari conversion to a 25 Savage would need to have the cabin cut down as part of the mods. Then it could work.

But the purists would go apoplectic.

THE "Bill Potter" of Sea Craft fame put together a 23 CC with a diesel under the console, and a Volvo drive with a jack shaft. I saw the boat at the Miami International Boat Show a few years at his "Sea Mark" display, and helped him with a minor issue with the drive in the early 1990's. FYI

I had one of the 23's with the Volvo diesel, jack shaft to stern drive. It ran ok when it was light on fuel but, only made 15 knots/hr when full of fuel.Engine was rated at 120 hp. I don't care for i/o's in salt water so I made it straight inboard with a 454 Crusader. Burns 12-13 gph at approx. 25 knts.
