reviving along sleeping thread... I am finally into my boat to a point that i feel it in necessary to insure... between electronics and a NEW etec.... its time to insure... going back in the thread and reviewing info and calling any new info out ....

Rusty, I dropped Progressive for the reasons you mentioned, went to Charter Lakes.

check BoatUS , they do agreed value. was very reasonable and very fair on the replacement value.

Rusty, to follow up and give you a starting point. On my 1978 23'er, I have $22,000 physical damage agreed value, trailer $3,000 ($25k total). Liability $300k, Medical payments $25K, Personal property $5K, Uninsured boater $300k, towing $2.5k and pollution liability $854K. My cost is $435/yr.

I tried to get more on the agreed value and that's as high as they would go (same as Progressive). Good luck.

Don Thats really close to what im looking for... I think with the new ponies on the back I and the electronics i am close to 20K to replace the entire vessel assuming the work will be done buy someone else... or retail due to fast replacement.... i shopped around ALOT to get the stuff i have on it ... Including the $ 7306 out the door i paid for my new etec... which would be best price of 11900 to replace with rigging.. so insuring is now going to be paramount... I like the idea of the environmental insurance also....

I went wih Hagerty classic boat insurance (same co.as the classic car ins) $10, 000 agreed value $300, 00 per accident, $6, 000 personal effects, $300, 00 uninsured boater, $854, 000 fuel spill (USCG minimum), $100.00 deductible.
Annual premium is $298.00

Progressive. I tried everyone and they were the best. Even have limited Bahamas coverage. No survey or bs.

Insuring older sea crafts

I checked with several today... one of the earlier posters gave me a pretty good quote.. the the highest was Boat US... the best was from Charter Lakes @ 374 a year... with 18000 agreed with 5000 personal contents... I thought this would cover rods reels and tackle but will have to confirm... i have expensive taste in rods and reels and if i have the 50's on the boat this should cover at least the rods and reels....
