Rabud Scupper Question
 

I am restoring a 23' Sceptre right now and so I am working through the scupper issue. I like the Rabud Scuppers but am concerned about what size to get. They come in 1" and 3". (Wouldn't 2" have been perfect :)). Anyway, I am going to plumb the scupper drains from the cockpit straight back to drain under the Hermco motor bracket. I also plan to tie in the overflow drains from the livewell. Is that a good idea? I am having a live well installed in the middle of the solid transom so I am not sure where else to route the overflow water.

I am also concerned about safety and the ability to drain water from the cockpit quickly should I take a wave over the bow. It just seems to me that 1" scuppers are too small. What are you guys with 23' Sceptres using? The 1" or the 3"? What are your thoughts on the overflow for the live well being plumbed to the cockpit drain pipe work?

23' CC here. 1 1/2" from deck to ocean. 1 1/2" baitwell overflow and drain tied together but not to deck drains. They drain about 8-10" above deck out side of boat. Deck drains not pictured are just below bracket flange.

Only plumb the live well drain into the deck drainage plumbing if you want to sink the boat- always keep them separate, otherwise, your live well drain water will be competing with the deck drain water for drainage space in the plumbing

Bill, makes sense. I hadn't really thought that one through.

I also hadn't thought about the height requirements for the live well drain either. I guess I will have to plumb the drains as OldsSchool did.

I just need to figure out what size piping and scuppers to go with for the deck drains.
