Probably a lot of trim tab and engine trim going on there.LOL! I thought it would have been a true inboard to plane at that speed.

I got Bob's wedges on there and engine tucked all the way in . . . no tabs at all. Put her on the new to me trailer and decided to go for a spin.

Awesome pilot house! Is that one of Bil Potter's designs?

I took this last week of my 20 with a 115 2 stroke. Knots is in bottom left of GPS. Hope the link works. I think of planning as when the bow falls flat. That's what I gauge mine on anyway. Tim, is that how you determine when you are on plane too. What is the definition of when you achieve "on plane"

Looks great, Tim! Really like that dog house forward. Looks like a great balance. Post some pics of her just sitting. No stern squat there. No sir! !0 mph plane is fantastic, virtually unheard of on a 23, no?

That`s insane Tim!. What an ace in the hole.

Balance is sooo underrated. If you go offshore, you will get caught in changing conditions.
There is a reason you see sailboats in the afternoon. It`s called wind.

I`ve seen a lot of interest in Big hp and 4 strokes lately. Yes, I said Big. This is an undeniable demonstration of what works best and why.

It is helpful to have an understanding of Bernoulli`s principle of fluid dynamics. Both wet and dry. Remember the balsa wind up planes. How much thrust does a rubber band produce?
The plane flies because of an understanding of weight, balance, and design. A wing does not produce lift, it merely moves from an area of high pressure to an area of low pressure.

A mass of air or water tends to remain constant. When outside forces change this constant,
they create changes in pressure that cause movement.

The old Porsche race cars dominated F1. They did not sacrifice weight for handling. They valued light weight. A 600 cc race bike is damn near as fast as a super bike, it is just that much more responsive.

As you chase more HP with the associated weight and balance changes, you have corrupted the original design intent.

Min plane speed can save your bacon. And your back and feet and knees.

Your choice,
GFS

77 It's the seamark potter mini pilot console . . . I absolutely love it.

Chance I'm not 100%certain of the true definition of planing. I always understood it as the point where the stern wash separates from the transom and you climb over the bow wave until the bow falls flat. How do you like that 115?

Gillie - here's a pic drifting for bass.

Thanks gfs . . . the 400lb console with a 375lb engine . . . really balance things out nicely. I love this setup.

So far so good. Bout 23 kent easy cruise around 4200. WOT 31 at 5500 with just a 15 pitch aluminum. Looking to try a 17 pitch. Awesome numbers and explanation. Thanks Tim. Go SOX!!!!
