awlgrip question

Does anyone know if I have to use the 545 epoxy primer with awlgrip or are they just trying to sell me their stuff?

I would, I did and it works great. Helps paint adhere better.

The reason I was asking us because 80% of the boat has been primed already. I was thinking I should just apply it exactly how awlgrip recommends

We always like to use the products from one manufacturer whether it's Alwgrip or Alexseal so if you have issues later in regards to warranty they can't come back and say it was caused by another product.

A very talented painter once told me he uses Awlgrip as his final primer. Said it is smoother, thicker, and stronger in the end.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll go ahead and re-prime it with awlgrip. I've come along ways with this boat, complete rebuild, taking 2 years don't want to mess it up with the paint

you own the awlgrip blue book? if not buy it, sucks to buy instructions but so worth it.

crater-x I recommend 2.
