Birdsall Rocket Launcher - 23' CC

I am in the process of replacing my leaning post with a 34" Birdsall Rocket Launcher. They have an option for a whale tail handle on the RL. This adds about 3" to each side of leaning post. Has anyone used this on their 23' CC versus the standard grab rail? I'm concerned this is going to be too wide.

Have the Same one your talking about and have the same questions haven't installed it yet and have gone back and forth like the handle and it will work but have also wondered if it would have been better without it call it a coin toss

I think it would depend on the width of your console and T-Top legs (If apropos)
You don't want to block the path fore to aft. Those little toe catchers (fuel line chase) are bad enough

I chose without the whale tail, but I wish I had kept the other two rod holders instead of making the custom tackle drawer. The two corners still provide a good steady grip.

BTW: If you have a T-Top make sure you install the fishing rods into the rocket launcher insuring the tips do not touch the back of the tops frame.
Then measure your distance of the laucher's legs from the console before buttoning them down to the deck ;)

I have a 20 with the Birdsall mini and no whale tail, a lil less resticting without and you can sit backwards without the extra rail digging in the back of your legs..

Pretty sure mine is 34". I remember talking to them and went with their recommended width. I added 5 rod holders/4 drink holders in between. I can get a better pic in a week. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...1/DSC_0785.jpg

I have the whale tale on mine too and love the extra something to hold on to when walking around the console when its rough. Mine is a 23 as well.34"

Ditto, I have had no problems with mine either, all I would like is a couple of drink holders. If you use a back rest on these you lose two rod holders.

You can do like Miles has done by adding a couple to the back rest or you can get something like these

Heya Chuck! I really like those backrest rod holders for trolling and using them for long riggers. Just avoid setting drag too tight or it could possibly be ugly! Im gonna add a couple of drink holders to mine. Ttyl

My deck is "crowned". Birdsall incorporated the crown into the feet for no additional $$$ after I supplied the angle. You should measure that before proceeding.
